Discount Automatics has been in the transmission industry for many years.
In 1962 Grandpa Robin bought into Altus Transmissions in Altus, Oklahoma. There, he developed his expert skills as an automatic transmission rebuilder. Eventually, Robin and his partner had two stores in Altus; one on West Broadway, and one on South Main.
Robin and his family moved to California and Robin opened Discount Automatics in 1970 on Rosebud Lane in the Sacramento area. In 1980 Dad Fred joined the team and together they opened the shop now located at 4500 Dry Creek Road.
The shop has thrived at this location for over 29 years, with transmission specialists Chris and Steve joining the team in 1989 and 1998 respectively.
Son Scott has worked in the shop regularly since his junior high days. He actually tore down transmission cores when he was in the 4th grade. Scott took the complete operation over in 2000.
In 1980, Discount Automatics was a two man operation in a one bay shop. We have expanded over the years and now operate from an 8,750 square foot Sacramento auto repair shop with the most modern equipment and the best trained most knowledgeable employees. Our three generations of loyal customers have never been happier.
Our shop now includes three 4-post lifts with capacity up to 25,000 pounds and four 2-post lifts designed for today's modern front wheel drive vehicles.
Our equipment is the newest and most advanced we can obtain. For example, we own one of the first two valve body testing machines in the state of California. We have state of the art electronic testing equipment and cooler flushers.
We provide quality auto repair services and we are experts in transmission repairs. We also have some of the longest <>a href="/warranty.shtml" title="Auto Repair Warranty Citrus Heights">auto repair warranties in the industry.
Our employees attend every seminar possible in an effort to remain current on any and all information that is available. Discount Automatics has had as many as five employees take college classes together on subjects such as automobile electronics and manual transmissions. We also take most of our employees and their spouses to the national industry conventions. There, our staff attends even more seminars so they can see first hand the latest equipment and procedures available.
